Savannah is a city built for romance. Its antebellum architecture, Southern hospitality, cobblestone streets, and towering oaks draped in Spanish moss take you back to a bygone era.

This laid-back city overflowing with character will make it easy for you to fall in love for the first time or all over again. Take your sweetheart by the hand and whisk them away for a memorable getaway in Savannah, Georgia.

Stay in a Historic B&B

Situated in the heart of Savannah’s Historic District are two award-winning B&Bs that are worth the stay. Both are conveniently located by many of the city’s top attractions, and both make it difficult for you to ever want to leave the room.

Built in the 19th century, each of Hamilton-Turner Inn’s 17 rooms are unique in character and design. Complimentary amenities include coffee and a newspaper, breakfast, evening wine and hors d’oeuvres, late night port, and turn-down service.

The Gastonian is located two blocks from Forsyth Park and consists of two adjoining 19th century, Italian-style mansions. Every room features luxury baths with fluffy robes, wood-burning fireplaces, complimentary breakfast delivered to your room by silver tray, hors d’oeuvres and wine in the afternoon, as well as desserts and cordials in the evening.

As old-fashioned as these places are, both include Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs.

Picnic in Forsyth Park

Grab a bottle of wine, fabulous food, and a blanket, and head out to Forsyth Park for a picnic under a shady oak dripping with Spanish moss.

This 30-acre wonderland is the largest park in Savannah and features walking paths, recreation sports, a café, and a farmer’s market on Saturdays. Before you leave, make your way to the park’s north end for a photo in front of its famous fountain.

Take a Riverboat Cruise

Savannah Riverboat Cruises offer a two-hour dinner cruise aboard the Georgia Queen as it sails down the Savannah River. Unwind on the water with a delicious buffet dinner that includes options such as the Fresh Catch of the Day, a beef carving station, squash casserole, and so much more!

In addition to the dinner cruise, they also offer sunset cruises where you can watch the scenery flow by with a drink on the upper-deck patio.

End the Night on River Street

Take a romantic stroll along River Street’s 200-year-old cobblestone path that offers spectacular views of passing ships on the Savannah River. Many of the century-old cotton warehouses have been converted into antique shops, galleries, and nightspots.

Make your way to The Olde Pink House, famous for its inventive Southern cuisine. But instead of heading inside, venture below to Planters Tavern located in the restaurant’s cellar. Planters Tavern is one of the city’s most romantic spots, with exposed brick walls and fireplaces. You can sit at the bar for wine and cocktails, order from the upstairs menu, or sing along with the piano man for as long as your heart desires.
